Family Funeral Liturgy Planning Guide

Dear Family,

The Bereavement Ministry Team at St. Pius X has put together a guide to help you and your family plan a celebration of your loved one's life. We understand that this is a very difficult time but we pray you can choose readings and music that will console you in your time of grief and help you heal.

This guide will provide you with selections to be used for your loved one's funeral. The choices are held withing. You will pick one selection from each category. If there is a Scripture reading or a song not found in this packet, please bring it with you and we will attempt to honor your request.

At the end of the guide, you will find a Planning Sheet and suggestions for  Eulogy (Words of Remembrance). Complete all that you are able and bring it with you to your planning session. You may ask family or friends to read the Scriptures and the Prayers of the Faithful. Also, the Procession of Gifts can be brought forward by family or friends.

You will receive a call from a member of the Bereavement Team and will be asked to meet with Fr. Rob and a member of two from the Team at an agreed upon time. We will assist you with all the details and hope to get to know your loved one a little more.

Once you leave the planning session, our hope is that you are able to participate more fully in the Celebration of Life of your loved one and know all is attended to.

Any question you may call Kathy Skipper at (716) 912-4232

We are prayerfully yours,
